If you are trying to get fit or just want to have an accurate guide to your daily energy expenditure it can be tedious keeping records yourself. The Fitbit monitor can do all this and more to help you keep track of your daily activities and how you can adjust them to best meet your fitness goals. Judging by the Fitbit reviews a lot of people seem to find it a useful piece of equipment.

The Fitbit Tracker is a 3D motion sensor that is clipped to the users clothing or placed in a pocket. It senses motion in three dimensions in a similar way to the Nintendo Wii and keeps track of the physical intensity and duration of your movements during the time you are wearing it. For example, it will measure and record calories burned, steps taken how far you have walked, and it will even give you data about your sleep patterns, such as how long it took you to fall asleep, the number of times you woke up throughout the night and for how long you were asleep.

A clever function of this device is that its base unit can be synced to a PC and you only have to walk within 15 feet of the base unit and the data recorded by the Fitbit Tracker will be automatically uploaded to the Fitbit website. When the user logs on the Fitbit website he/she can access the information that has been uploaded and use this to analyze the day’s activities.

Technical Details

  • Accurately tracks your calories burned, steps taken, distance traveled and sleep quality
  • Simply carry it in your pocket or clip it to your clothing, and the Fitbit automatically keeps track of your fitness and sleep.
  • Anytime you walk by the included wireless base station, data from your Fitbit is silently uploaded
  • Contains a 3D motion sensor like the one found in the Nintendo Wii, which tracks your motion in three dimensions and converts this into useful information about your daily activities

Fitbit review

There were a lot of Fitbit reviews and they were predominantly from satisfied users. The unit was said to a very useful method of keeping track of activities such as walking and calories burned and most people were of the opinion that if it wasn’t for the Fitbit they wouldn’t keep records themselves. Another feature of the unit that drew comment was the fact that it only weighs 0.5 of an ounce and the wearer is not really aware of using it. The ease of transmitting the recorded information to the Fitbit website was also a plus point mentioned in many Fitbit reviews.

The unit received praise for its accuracy from many reviewers. Some folks had actually checked it against running tracks at their gym and found it to be accurate for measuring walking and running.  It wasn’t thought to be so accurate when it came to measuring sleeping habits according to some Fitbit reviews as it was possible for the unit to confuse a person lying very still with being asleep.

Not all the Fitbit reviews gave the product the thumbs up. Some people would have preferred to have had software on their computer for monitoring the data and their improvement rather than having to log on to a website. Against this, of course, is the amount of hard disc storage that this would take up, especially if the unit is used a lot. Another disappointment for some people was the fact that it doesn’t monitor exercises other than walking and running. It is possible to enter other activities such as cycling into your data record on the Fitbit website but this was not as accurate in some peoples’ opinions.

Based on the Fitbit reviews it would seem that the Fitbit works well and saves the user the tedious chore of recording their exercise and other activities. It has been shown to be accurate and has a reasonable price tag. In the circumstances we have no hesitation in recommending that you buy Fitbit.

I got my fitbit for chistmas and i absolutely love it. That is why i was extremely disappointed when about 2 months later it stopped working. I emailed the company and after some online trouble shooting that didn’t work they did the unthinkable. The company actually mailed me a new one. I KNOW RIGHT. I thought good customer service was a dying art form. No receipt, box or proof of purchase necessary. I also got it in two days after order was processed. I feel whole again with my fitbit snuggly on my body. I wear it ALL the time. It helps me stay motivated, even makes me work a little harder and eat a little less. I have to say it was my best christmas present. I am a FitBiter for LIFE.
